Nicole Richie's Probation Extended for a Year

The reformed mom isn't off the hook just yet for her 2006 DUI arrest

It may seem like mom of two Nicole Richie has cleaned up her act, but she's not a free woman just yet. The former party-girl's probation has been extended for another year, according to her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley.

The reformed mom has been on probation since her 2006 DUI arrest, in which she was picked up by police after driving the wrong way down a one-way street. The reality star later admitted to smoking marijuana and taking Vicodin before getting in her car. She spent 82 minutes in jail for her crimes.

Richie's probation has been extended until March 2011, due to the fact that she was given a court-approved leave of absence from her alcohol education classes, a condition of her probation, to raise her children, Harlow, 2, and Sparrow, 9 months. A Los Angeles judge did say that Richie's probation could be lifted if she completes the required amount of classes before March.

Having turned over a new leaf since becoming a mom and later getting engaged to her kids' dad, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, Richie has been on the straight and narrow for the past few years. According to TMZ.com, Richie's alcohol education report says, "Her attitude is excellent."

Keep up the great work, Nicole!
