Though the infidelity rumors continue to dog him, it looks like the legal consequences from Tiger Woods' car accident will be minimal.
People.com reports that police will likely file no more than a minor traffic ticket in connection with the early-morning car crash that has kept his name in the headlines for several days. Word is that the fee for the infraction could be as little as $164.
In a Tuesday afternoon press conference, a spokesperson for Florida police said that no criminal charges would be filed, and that there were no claims of domestic violence in the case.
Almost as soon as the Tiger Woods car-crash story hit the news, the tabloids began yapping about what the "real story" behind what led the celebrity golfer to drive his car into a fire hydrant at 2:30 in the morning.
One rumor dominated the gossip mill: Tiger was fleeing an argument with his wife, Elin Nordegren, who was in a rage over an alleged affair. In stories about the golfer's rumored affair, the name that came up most often was Rachel Uchitel, a VIP services director for a glitzy New York nightclub.
Uchitel has been pursued by paparazzi, and has denied that she had any role in Tiger Woods' possible infidelity. In a new interview with the New York Post, she says that she did meet the PGA star, but only in a business manner.
"Tiger and I are not friends," Uchitel said. "That's a whole different ballgame. I've only met him twice. He came in to The Griffin [the nightclub where she worked] in the summer. As usual in my job, I got a call from a promoter that he's coming in. I went outside and brought him and his entire group in, walked them upstairs, introduced him to his waitress."
In the exclusive interview, Rachel repeatedly emphasized that her only contact with Tiger was just all in a day's work.
"I've always been the director of VIP services, that's my job -- to know these people, to have a relationship with them, to hang out with them," she said. "It doesn't mean I am having sex with them or an affair with them."
