What a month it's been for Sandra Bullock, 45, who won an Oscar on March 7 and reportedly learned days later that her spouse of five years, Jesse James, was a serial cheater. Now, after her vilified husband has entered (and quit) rehab, and with a seige of paparazzi invading her privacy, the actress everyone's waiting to hear from is finally commenting on the scandal.
"There is no sex tape," Bullock said today in a statement to People.com, addressing online rumors about a racy video of her with her estranged husband. "There never has been one and there never will be one."
It's a mystery why the veil of silence on Bullock's part is suddenly being lifted to address this particular topic. A source has told RadarOnline.com that the actress harbors concerns about James' erratic behavior and is determined to protect her privacy if she decides to proceed with a divorce.
But for women everywhere who sympathize with Bullock as a wife who thought her partner was trustworthy, the last five words of her first public statement -- "there never will be one" -- certainly seem easy to interpret: Bullock seems 100 percent resolute about never reconciling with the man she thought of as her Mr. Right, but who may have been Mr. Wrong all along.
