NSAIDs Increase Your Risk of Heart Attack

If you have osteoarthritis, you may be taking NSAIDs like naproxen or Celebrex to combat the pain and reduce the inflammation that leads to pain. NSAIDs can be very effective for treating many types of pain, but these drugs are associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The FDA requires prescription versions to carry a boxed warning of these life-threatening risks. Experts believe that naproxen carries less risk than other NSAIDs, but none are completely safe. Talk to your doctor before taking an NSAID if you are at high risk of heart disease.
