All the ladies in the building: Politics aside, who didn’t swoon when President Obama channeled his inner Al Green at the Apollo Theater? Now the POTUS is back with another track—only this time it’s not crooned in his singing voice.
Like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Katy Perry, and the Harvard mens baseball team before him, a new viral video has the president taking on Carly Rae Jepsen’s addictive song (which, by the way, is currently number one on iTunes), with the lyrics strung together from spliced pieces of his speeches. The apparently very patient geniuses at BarackDubs are behind the mashup; it’s the same group that brought us Obama-fied versions of "Born This Way," "Drink To That," and "Sexy and I Know It.”
Maybe the catchy lyrics (“I just met you…”) would have been better suited to his first-term run, but for once in the campaign cycle, voters right and left have something to get behind that’s not about strategy, speechifying or mudslinging. It’s just plain fun.
Now just try to get that song out of your head today. We're sure the Romney camp won't be able to!
