Octavia Spencer may have just won the SAG Award for outstanding supporting actress, but the scene-stealing star of The Help had some personal health concerns after her acceptance speech.
According to People, Spencer admitted that she is not happy with her plus-sized body while backstage at the SAG Awards. "I am not healthy at this weight," Spencer, 39 reportedly told the press. "Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem."
But Spencer, who joked about being out of shape when she had trouble catching her breath during her acceptance speech, didn't stop there. She was also quoted as saying: "[And] when you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable."
But when news today about Octavia's comments, the actress wasn't exactly pleased with the story.
"Another misquote. My quote 'u are less valued if you're overweight taken out of context," she wrote on her Facebook page on Jan. 30. "And my I am unhealthy..comment...arrgh! Who is hating the press more than me right now? Some reporters are indeed bound to meet Minny!"
But there were some positive comments that came out of Spencer's interview. She also expressed a desire to change the pressures that Hollywood puts on women.
"I feel for the overly thin women as much as I do for the overweight women. It...has to change," she said. "If more women ate, they would be a lot happier. Let me tell you, I am a lot grumpier when I don't eat."
