If you know ahead of time that you're going to have a c-section, it doesn't have to feel impersonal. Your partner will be there the whole time (and might even look kind of cute in scrubs) and some docs will let you have someone else in the OR too if it's important to you. Many ORs have iPod docks, so ask your ob if you can play your favorite tunes during the procedure, says Dr. Randell. Cameras are typically allowed in as well, so the big birth moment can be captured for posterity.
