Aha! No One Steals Oprah's Catchphrase

Don't be stealing from Ops, people!

Oprah Winfrey is pissed that Mutual of Omaha insurance company is using her signature catchphrase, "Aha Moment!" in their new ad campaign. Ms. W's lawyers recently sent cease and desist letter to the company, insisting they not move forward with their new slogan, "Official sponsor of the aha moment."

Ops claims she has the rights to it and has threatened to sue. The talk show queen is not associated with Mutual of Omaha, and doesn't want anyone tricked into thinking she is.

But MOO isn't taking this lying down. They say are saying that, even if Oprah had trademark rights to the phrase, she "abandoned" those rights when she let other people use it in the past.

A rep for Harpo let us know that "Harpo has not filed a lawsuit or counterclaim against Mutual of Omaha.  We hope to reach an amicable resolution on this issue."

I'm no lawyer, but I will admit that when I saw the Mutual of Omaha commercial the other day, I said to my hubby, "That's Oprah's thing!"

So there. Point Ops.
