Last month a retired math teacher from Kansas City started a website dedicated to getting Oprah Winfrey to run for president. The site became a big hit and the mastermind behind it, Patrick Crowe, started getting requests for radio and television interviews. Unfortunately, Oprah’s lawyers did not find it funny and threatened legal action due to the fact that Oprah is not running nor does she have any interest in a political career. Naturally, I was disappointed as I love me some Oprah.
So when I heard that my other two fave talk show hosts are getting some pressure to run for president, well I was just delighted. T-shirts for a Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert joint ticket are incredibly popular and the possible run for president is generating buzz and media attention. This weekend Jon Stewart addressed the rumors of his candidacy saying he has no plans to run for the white house. Once again my dreams are dashed, but if it were up to me, I’d vote for an Oprah/Stephen Colbert ticket. Which talk show host would you like to see make a run for political office?
