One of the many reasons we love Oprah Winfrey? She's able to make fun of herself.
During Oprah and Gayle King's camping trip to Yosemite National Park, which aired on Tuesday's Oprah Winfrey Show, the best friends slept (in separate beds, of course) in a pop-up camper. As they got ready to head in for the night, King laughed, "Let's just add to those lesbian rumors!"
"Lesbian rumors!" Winfrey repeated (referring to tabloid stories that they're a couple), before bursting out laughing. "Come on in, baby!" King replied as she climbed into the camper.
The following morning, Winfrey and King bared all for the cameras, letting themselves be videotaped without makeup as they first woke up, which led to some fun-filled mocking on King's part: "Good morning, America. Oprah Winfrey when she first wakes up," King joked. "Isn't she pretty? Go ahead, show them that TV smile."
The footage was from part two of Winfrey and King's camping trip (part one aired the previous week), which they decided to embark on after getting a letter from a park ranger who told them that not enough African-American people go camping.
While on the trip, the friends made s'mores with their campground neighbors, rode mules and learned to fly fish. And though Winfrey has her own personal chefs, she treated King to some of her own cooking. "We've been friends for over 30 years, and she's never cooked one single thing in 30 years," Oprah joked about her BFF's lack of culinary skills to the audience. "Not an egg. Not a piece of toast."
