Organize Items According to Task

Professional organizer Amanda LeBlanc helps her clients figure out how they want their kitchens to flow before she even attempts to organize anything. “You don’t want to run back and forth in the kitchen to get all of the things you need to prepare a meal,” she explains. “When you are standing at the stove, everything you need to cook should be right at your fingertips.”

The Kitchn experts agree that you need to set up your space in a way that eliminates any unnecessary movement. “Group items together by task, with the most-used items within arm's reach,” they suggest. For example, spices, oils and cooking utensils should be near the stove while cutting boards and knives should be near your prep area.
