Best Actress: Natalie Portman



Natalie Portman has impressed audiences with talk of her rigorous training for her tortured performance in Black Swan -- which included a steep weight loss and dislocated rib. Then she charmed them with her real-life love affair with her now-fiancé, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, which has rendered her just about the most glowing expectant mom out there. Annette Bening, star of the clever dramedy The Kids Are All Right, will be Portman's toughest competitor, but Academy voters historically tend to err to the side of drama -- so Portman will lay claim to that statuette.
