Best Actor: George Clooney

What once seemed like a tight race between old buddies/practical-joke rivals Brad Pitt and George Clooney, may now be a showdown between the latter and Jean Dujardin. The Artist’s breakout star took the SAG prize from both of the above, while both he and Clooney have comedy and dramatic Golden Globes in their clutches, respectively. Still, the prize should go to Clooney. The Academy is usually biased toward weightier roles, as well as to the bigger hits. And The Descendants took in $70+ million compared to The Artist’s $24+ million.
