Our 5 Favorite New Couples of 2012 (Please Don't Break Up!)

From Lea Michele & Cory Monteith to Michelle Williams & Jason Segel, we're counting down the best star duos who paired up this year

Even though Hollywood relationships tend to be short-lived, we can't help but be hopeful for the new celebrity couples of 2012. Which of them will go the distance? Here are our five favorite celeb romances of that started this year, and why we think they have a shot at long-term bliss.

1. Lea Michele & Cory Monteith
How they met: Lea and Cory have been playing a will-they-or-won't-they couple on Glee since 2009, but real-life romance didn't blossom until early this year. In December, they finally confirmed their relationship to the press.

Why they might last: They were friends before they dated, which is usually a good sign. They also understand each other's lives better than anyone else could: they have the same super-demanding job, and they became famous at the same time. As Lea told Marie Claire in December, "I don't even remember a time when he wasn't my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory...He makes me feel like I can do anything."

2. Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher
How they met: They got their big break together playing Jackie and Kelso on That '70s Show, which ran from 1998 to 2006. This spring, it became clear that something more than friendship was happening between Kutcher, who split from Demi Moore in 2011, and Kunis, who had a previous long-term relationship with Macauley Culkin. By July, they'd thrown caution to the wind and were making out in public.

Why they might last: Mila and Ashton seem very comfortable and relaxed when they're together -- which makes sense, seeing as they've known one another for 15 years! And Mila is strict about keeping her personal life private, which will curb Ashton's tendency to overshare (a major issue in his marriage). We only hope Demi can find a good match of her own.

3. Michelle Williams & Jason Segel
How they met: They were introduced by Williams' best friend (and Dawson's Creek costar) Busy Philipps, who also costarred with Segel on the series Freaks & Geeks. They started going on cute Brooklyn dates together in March.

Why they might last: The fact that a mutual close friend set them up speaks volumes. Jason and Michelle are both unusually down-to-earth for Hollywood stars, and Jason appears to be great with Michelle's daughter Matilda (from her marriage to Heath Ledger).

4. Zachary Quinto & Jonathan Groff
How they met: The American Horror Story actor and the Glee actor have been close for some time now; they were a rumored couple even before Quinto came out in October 2011. But Quinto didn't officially confirm their relationship until this September. "I’m incredibly happy, I’m incredibly lucky," he told Out magazine.

Why they might last: Both actors are balancing stage, screen and TV careers, so living on two coasts isn't a problem. And Quinto seems serious about settling down. "I definitely want kids," he told Out.

5. Taylor Swift & Harry Styles
How they met: Rumor has it that the country star and One Direction singer had a fling in April, which may have inspired Taylor's song "I Knew You Were Trouble." They reunited in November, when they were spotted holding hands on the X Factor set. Now they're double-dating with Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

Why they might last: Because one of Taylor's relationships has to, darn it! And they're adorable together. Maybe this one's just wishful thinking, but we hope it will inspire some great love songs in 2013.
