The Best Viral Videos of the Year -- How Many Have You Seen?

From the addictive "Gangnam Style" to one of the most romantic proposals ever, take a look at the videos we couldn't stop watching this year

The year is coming to a close, which means there is no better time to look back at the viral videos that charmed us in 2012. Don't act like we were the only ones spending half our work days on YouTube -- we alone didn't get "Gangnam Style" up to its 1.05 billion views!

Okay, so maybe we at least got a good million in there, but Psy wasn't the only one to charm us in 2012 (though he was the only one to teach us the joys of equine dance moves). From Isaac's Live Lip-Dub proposal to a bad lip reading of The Twilight Saga, here are our favorite viral videos of the year:

1. "Gangnam Style"
Total views (at pub time): 1,054,969,395

What more can be said about Psy's "Gangnam Style" that hasn't already been said? While some of you may still love it and some of you may now hate it, anyone who doesn't immediately start singing, "Oppa Gangnam Style" must literally have been living under a rock. Psy's hit single might go down in history as a one-hit wonder to rival "Macarena" (at least on U.S. shores), but at least bar mitzvahs and school dances have now gotten a bit more interesting.

2. Obama Gangnam Style
Total views (at pub time): 9,467,893

This might seem a little redundant, but the fact that "Obama Gangnam Style" fooled some Chinese fans into thinking it was actually President Obama singing it makes it deserve a spot on this list. Add that to Obama admitting that he's done the "Gangnam Style" dance for Michelle in real life, and we're obsessed.

3. Isaac's Live Lip-Dub Proposal
Total views (at pub time): 17,081,491

Oh Isaac, how could she have not said yes to you after all the effort you put into the world's first live lip-dub proposal? We never thought we'd say it, but this video even tops the Portal 2 marriage proposal.

4. Mister Rogers Remixed: Garden of Your Mind
Total views (at pub time): 7,870,554

Hey neighbor, it's been a while since we traveled to Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, but PBS changed all that when they released an auto-tuned remix of the hit children's show earlier this year. Part terrifying, part nostalgic and entirely catchy, the "Garden of Your Mind" was a nice homage to the man who taught us that all you have to do is think, and your ideas will grow.

5. Please Move The Deer Crossing Sign
Total views (at pub time): 11,304,738

When you see signs saying that you are entering a school zone, typically there is a sign signifying that there are children crossing nearby. One woman seemed to confuse those signs with ones warning drivers that deer live in the area by thinking that the deer crossing signs are directing deer to cross in that area. We still can't tell if she was joking or not.

6. Catch the Ice Dude
Total views (at pub time): 22,881,180

Is there anything more stupid than jumping into a frozen pool? Jumping into a frozen pool and thinking you can break the ice. One poor German man made that mistake, and the response is cringe-worthy at best. Please, don't try this at home.

7. Dollar Shave Club: Our Blades Are F***ing Great
Total views (at pub time): 7,870,957

What do you get when a small company tries to recreate the success of the Old Spice man commercials? You get the splendor that is the Dollar Shave Club's fantastic internet ad that explains the joys of having razors sent directly to your door monthly. Somehow we think they reached their target audience.

And one for good luck...
8. Edward and Bella: A Bad Lip Reading of Twilight
Total views (at pub time): 16,351,919

The Bad Lip Reading Team have tackled quite a few properties, but none are quite so giggle-worthy as their takedown of The Twilight Saga. If this one video isn't enough for you, they return to Twilight several times after this one to similarly hilarious results.
