The Oval Office

Although Theodore Roosevelt built the West Wing in 1902, including a rectangular "president's room," William Howard Taft relocated the office to the center of the West Wing and had its shape changed to oval in 1909, creating the Oval Office for the first time. Under Bill Clinton, the Oval Office was updated with rich, vibrant colors.

This office is home to the Resolute desk, made famous by the 1962 photograph of John F. Kennedy Jr. peering out from the kneehole panel as his father worked.

Should Michelle Obama redecorate this room?
