What it is: A northern neighbor of England and equally rich in underused names is Scotland. Scottish names are so strong and full of history, it’s a wonder that more parents haven't consider them super popular. The boy’s name Callum, which means “dove,” will appeal to peace-minded parents, says Amanda Barden, author of Baby Names Made Easy (Amazon, $15). For girls, Tavie is a pretty name that means “twin.”
