Nude pregnancy photos are all the rage with celebrities these days -- but do they still seem like such a good idea once the kids are born? Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi says she's proud of the naked portraits she took in 2009 for Page Six magazine -- and she feels no shame in sharing them with her 1-year-old daughter Krishna.
"I think those are beautiful pictures, and they hang in our design studio, and my daughter passes those pictures every day," Lakshmi, 40, tells Fox News.
In fact, the Top Chef star says she considers the photographs art, and is glad she participated in creating them.
"I think a woman's body is one of the most beautiful creations on this Earth," says the former model. "And it's not what you do, it's how you do it. Michelangelo did nudes too. There's a difference between a beautiful photo and an exploited photo, and I don't believe there's anything exploited in the photos that I've taken."
And what if those photos are the start of a promising modeling career for Krishna? Lakshmi says she has no objections to her daughter going into modeling or entertainment -- when the timing is right.
"If she asks to be involved in that before she's 18, then I will judiciously discuss it with the rest of her family and make that decision after she's 18 or after she's gone through college or when she's 21 or 22," says Lakshmi. "I would encourage going about it that way. Krishna is her own person and she will become who she is going to become, and we will navigate that road when we get there."
This week, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon revealed their naked pregnancy photos to the world. Other celebs who've famously joined in the trend include Heidi Klum and Halle Berry.
