Paris Hilton Denied Entry to Japan

Hilton's recent cocaine bust led Japanese officials to ban her from the country

Paris Hilton may have avoided jail by pleading guilty to cocaine possession -- but on Tuesday, she discovered the unexpected consequences!

While traveling to a promotional appearance in Tokyo, Hilton was detained by immigration officials at Japan's Narita Airport. Apparently, visitors who are on a suspended jail term -- including Hilton, who got a year's probation in lieu of two six-month prison sentences -- are not allowed to enter Japan without "special reasons." On Wednesday, officials made the decision to deny the heiress entry into the country.

"I'm going back home, and I look forward to coming back to Japan in the future," Hilton told reporters. Hilton was forced to cancel her scheduled press conference about her perfume and fragrance lines. She also pulled the plug on appearances in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Jakarta, Indonesia.

The immigration snafu clearly came as a surprise to Hilton, who just before being detained tweeted a cheerful picture of herself and sister Nicky Hilton at the Tokyo airport.

"Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many fans Asian fans," her rep said in a statement. "She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control. She is very disappointed by tonight's events."

We like how this statement makes it sound like Paris was being hardworking and responsible, while those mean immigration officials stopped her for no reason. Nevermind that none of this would be happening if she hadn't been caught by the cops with a purse full of cocaine!
