New York City caterer Peter Callahan specializes in outrageously cute miniature versions of comfort food favorites. In his new cookbook Bite By Bite he shares his secrets for creating stylish, unforgettable party food at home
When Martha Stewart hires you to cater her parties, you know you're doing something right. Peter Callahan, owner of New York-based Callahan Catering, made a name for himself by creating whimsical, miniature versions of classic dishes such as spaghetti and meatballs, Caesar salad and grilled cheese for A-list clients including Kate Spade, Al Gore and Tony Bennett, among others. (Stewart claims he created the mini hamburger, now a menu staple at Hollywood parties.) Callahan writes, "What once would never in a million years be served at a fancy party, like French fries and hot dogs, have become some of my most-requested items at parties across the country."
His new cookbook, Bite By Bite, features 100 mouthwatering recipes and photos for his signature party foods, both sweet and savory (think: mini ice cream cones, tiny hot dogs, one-bite fish tacos). Here, he shares three of his favorite recipes, plus tips on how to recreate his uber-chic food presentations at home.
