It's been a tough road for Patrick Swayze, who's fighting pancreatic cancer with the best of them. The actor was hospitalized last week for pneumonia, which sent most of us into a tizzy, worrying that Patrick was losing his battle. But our Johnny Castle says that his dance is far from over.
"I am alive and plan on continuing to stay that way," Patrick told the new issue of People.
He's staying on top of his health, which is why he took immediate action the minute he felt like something wasn't right with his body. Patrick says he headed straight for the doc when he had a cough that just wouldn't go away.
"It made me suspect there was a possibility of some kind of infection," he says. "I wanted to jump on it before it turned into a problem. As soon as I got home, I called my doctor and then went straight to the hospital and was immediately put on antibiotics."
How is he doing now? "I am almost in the clear."
