More on McCartney/Mills

As I told you this morning, Paul McCartney and Heather Mills are separating. Since then, they've confirmed the split, blaming intrusion from the media for causing problems in their marriage. I've also learned that they didn't have a prenup.

"Having tried exceptionally hard to make our relationship work given the daily pressures surrounding us, it is with sadness that we have decided to go our separate ways," a statement from the couple said. "Our parting is amicable and both of us still care about each other very much."

"Separation for any couple is difficult enough, but to have to go through this so publicly, especially with a small daughter, is immensely stressful," it added. "We hope, for the sake of our baby daughter, that we will be given some space and time to get through this difficult period."

Two things. First, I love Beatle Paul, but how ridiculous is it for him to blame the press? In the '60s, he met and married his first wife, Linda. That's when he was at the top of his game -- his heyday, his prime. You mean to tell me that the media had no impact on that marriage -- despite him being one of the most famous faces in the world -- but it ruined this one? Puh-leez.

And the kicker to this is, as mentioned, Heather did not sign a prenup. In 2002, she told Vanity Fair that Paul -- who is worth about $1.5 billion -- didn't force her to sign a prenup. She said she offered, but he wouldn't allow it.

As my coworker Tanya just said: Ching, ching, ching, ching, ching, ching, ching.

Chime In
Do you think it was a bad idea for Paul to get married without a prenup? Was he being naive?
