The time has come for us all to stop feeling bad for Paula Abdul.
The former American Idol judge gave her first interview yesterday, since finding out that Ellen DeGeneres will be taking her spot on the American Idol panel, and she's not wallowing in self-pity. On the contrary, she's looking forward to the all of the new opportunities her change of direction has provided.
"I am doing so many things, I can't wait to tell you," she told the Johnjay and Rich Show on KISS FM Phoenix, via UsMagazine.com. "I see myself...such a big part of what I've been doing is helping other people realize their dreams. I've only scratched the surface of things I want to do.
"I'm going to be producing my own shows -- not just in America. I'm going to be creating a show in Vegas. Pretty soon I'll be announcing some very exciting stuff with a network and production company," she said. "So I'm actually getting to do all the things that represent who I am. People have no idea."
As for how Idol is going to fare without her, Paula says Ellen's arrival will make the talent competition "a different show." And, though some are worried that this will be the show's "jump the shark" moment – we're not sure how Ellen DeGeneres could make anything bad.
Paula seems to have a ton of stuff on her plate – she hosted last night's VH1 Divas Live, for one – and as the old adage goes, "as one door closes, another opens."
