Paula Abdul to Host New 'Star Search'?

The former Idol judge is reportedly finalizing a deal with ABC to host a reboot of the classic talent contest

Looks like Paula Abdul is going to keep reaching for the stars. The former American Idol judge is reportedly in talks to appear on a new version of the talent competition Star Search on ABC.

Abdul is finalizing a new deal, according to EW.com, to work on the updated version of the classic series (which gave Rosie O'Donnell, Tiffany, Destiny's Child and Sinbad their first big breaks back in the 1980's) in a role described as "some combination of hosting and judging."

What does this mean for Abdul's rumored reunion with Simon Cowell on his U.S. version of The X-Factor? Perhaps nothing, as the new Star Search is slated to premiere this summer, while FOX's X-Factor is on hold until fall of 2011.

This will be the second time Star Search has been revived, as the original show, which premiered in 1983 with host Ed McMahon, was brought back by CBS in 2003 with host Arsenio Hall (it was cancelled in 2004).

Let's hope Abdul has better luck...
