Have you been missing Paula Abdul's "kill 'em with kindness" judging style this season on American Idol? Well, the sweetheart is about to make a big return to the judges' table, as Abdul has landed herself a whopper of a new gig.
The singer/choreographer will take on the role of lead judge, mentor, coach and executive producer on CBS' new show Got to Dance, an all-ages dance competition based on a hit British show.
"I’ve spent the better part of my life teaching, mentoring, nurturing — working with so many talented people — and I consider myself truly blessed to be able to continue to do something that I hold so dear to my heart,” Abdul said in a press release. “Each and every week we’ll showcase the challenges and successes of a fantastic group of dancers, as they perform and compete — compelling stories, exciting competition and amazing dance performances are guaranteed.”
Got to Dance is currently scheduled to be a mid-season replacement in the network's 2010-2011 TV line-up, but, in the meantime, Abdul will reportedly be returning to the Idol stage this week to participate in Simon Cowell's big send-off. The news of Abdul's new job with the reality show should put to rest rumors that she'll be joining Cowell on his American version of The X Factor, set to debut in 2011 on FOX.
