Paul Reubens, a.k.a. "Pee Wee Herman," has kept a pretty low profile since his indecent exposure arrest in a movie theater 18 years ago. But he was very much back in the spotlight last night on The Jay Leno Show.
Reubens was in full Pee Wee regalia -- an ill-fitting, pale grey suit with a red bow tie -- and persona during his appearance. Over the course of the show, he never broke character and looked far younger than his 51 years.
The closest Pee Wee came to acknowledging the public masturbation incident was when he showed Jay his "abstinence ring" and said: "I'm only two days into it. Not easy!"
Later in the show, funny woman du jour, Amy Poehler fielded Jay's questions for his regular "10@10" feature. Among the funnier moments:
- When the Parks & Recreation star was asked to name as many state parks as possible, she fared quite well -- and included "Donald Trump's Back Yard" among them.
- Jay inquired as to how Amy spent her birthday last week (she turned 38 on the 16th), she said "I did what I always do on my birthday: I went on The View and hung out with La Toya Jackson."
- Amy paused a bit after Jay asked her to name the strangest place she and husband, actor Will Arnett, had "made whoopie," then replied: "I won't say where, but I will tell you we met Whoopi on The View."
