Academy Award winner and international movie star Penélope Cruz may be known for her sultry performances, but did you know that she's also a huge fan of the hit show Glee? Indeed, Cruz recently told Entertainment Weekly that she and her husband, actor Javier Bardem, are both huge "Gleeks." "It's actually the only thing that I watch on television," says Cruz.
Rumor have swirled that Bardem might appear in an episode of Glee this season (though time is running out -- there are just a few eps left!) -- and Cruz, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for her performance in the movie musical Nine, reveals to EW that she's very interested in the possibility herself. "Once you've done a musical you always want to do it again," she says. "I would love to do more musicals, in TV or film. Not on Broadway, because I'm not brave enough to do that yet. But I love musicals."
Cruz also raved about Gwyneth Paltrow's guest-starring turn on the show, saying, "She was so funny and she has such an amazing voice."
Cruz has an amazing voice, too -- one that the Glee team would certainly put to good use. But just in case they need ideas, may we suggest a spicy Spanish-language duet with Mr. Schuester? He does teach el Espanol after all!
Penélope, who gave birth to a baby boy this January, also told EW about her experience filming the action-packed summer blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides -- while pregnant! While Cruz says that costar Johnny Depp and director Rob Marshall "took care of me" during the shoot, she does recall one particularly memorable incident. "They left Johnny and I on a deserted island with no bathrooms to do a helicopter shot. That for a pregnant woman can be a little bit of a problem. So for those few hours I had to keep going into the water every 15 minutes. That was one of those things that you remember forever."
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sails into theaters May 20.
