Dr. Daniel Pierce (Will & Grace star Eric McCormack) is a brilliant neuroscience professor with an incredible ability to read people and go inside their minds to understand what makes them tick. He's also a paranoid schizophrenic, which sometimes jeopardizes his relationships and his ability to help the FBI solve cases.
That's what Pierce has been recruited to do by his former student, Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), who is now an FBI agent -- but his schizophrenia and the hallucinations that sometimes result make him behave in potentially dangerous ways. Helping him in his efforts to balance his brilliance with his illness are Moretti, his assistant Max (Arjay Smith), his best friend Natalie (Kelly Rowan), and university dean and friend Paul (LeVar Burton).
Perception also boasts an impressive lineup of guest stars for its first season, including Neal McDonough, Cary Elwes, Jamie Bamber, Roger Bart, Tom Sizemore, Edward Furlong, Sheryl Lee and Dan Lauria, while the cases Daniel tackles include a man accused of killing his mail-order bride, a 1980s serial killer who begins to kill again, the murder of a college student in her dorm and a case involving a schizophrenic that turns very personal for Professor Pierce. Perception airs Mondays, 10/9c on TNT.
