Perked-Up Popcorn

Popcorn is always a good snack: filling, tasty, full of fiber—and low in fat when air-popped (you'll need a machine for this; most are inexpensive and simple to use). But it can get dull, too. Perk it up with these exciting toppings and turn an everyday snack into a sweet or savory treat that never gets boring. You can also try these toppings on a bag of microwave popcorn, but in that case, skip the extra butter.

    1/2 cup popcorn kernels Salt to taste
    2 tablespoons butter

      Using a hot-air corn-popping machine, air-pop the popcorn into a large bowl.

      Microwave the butter in a small cup or ramekin on High for 1 minute. Drizzle the melted butter over the popcorn. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
