Amanda Bynes has joined the not-so-prestigious club of celebrities who have shaved their heads. But instead of buzzing all of her hair, the 27-year-old just lost the sides of her blonde locks for an edgy new look.
"I buzzed half my head like @cassie! No more old photos! This is the new me! I love it!" she tweets.
While there's no denying that Bynes' new hairstyle is a popular look in the hipster crowd, it's hard to ignore her recent batch of weird behavior leading up to this moment. She already pierced her cheeks with studs, so is she simply showing her rebellious side -- or is this something people should be concerned about?
Bynes' downward spiral is reminiscent of Britney Spears circa 2007 (remember her head-shaving incident?). We hope Bynes isn't going through a similar mental breakdown, but is simply making a fashion statement.
Speaking of making a statement, here are five other celebrities who (sort of) shaved their heads over the years.
If you want to know who is to thank for the increased popularity of the shaved-head trend, look no farther than pop star Cassie. She debuted the look back in 2009, and the red carpet's never been the same since.
Rihanna's hair styles are as ever-changing as the wind, but her partially-shaved look paired with long extensions is definitely not one of our favorites.

Though Miley Cyrus at first looked like Justin Bieber when she shaved off her signature long hair, we've come to love her new shorter look over the past six months.
Not only did Avril Lavigne shave part of her head back in September, but she changed things up by adding green and pink dye and some metal studs to the mix. This is a sk8er girl look if we've ever seen it.
An early one to jump on the shaved head bandwagon, Ke$ha debuted her new look in early 2012. Heck, she even braided her sideburn at times.
