Singer-songwriter. TV host. Children's book author. Jewel has racked up an interesting array of professional accomplishments, hasn't she? Next up: actress.
Can she pull off the title role in Lifetime's The June Carter Cash Story? Based on this photo, she certainly looks the part! Gone are her trademark crooked teeth and wispy blond hair. Gone, too, are her brown eyes. "Here I am as June in my trailer with her blue eyes and perfect teeth #ringoffire," Jewel tweeted from the set yesterday.
Indeed, the 38-year-old singer looks eerily similar to the late June Carter Cash, who died in May 2003. Scheduled to air later this year, the biopic -- based on the book Anchored in Love written by John Carter Cash about his mother -- will cover the country music icon's childhood in rural Virginia, her music career, her first two marriages and her iconic love story with her third husband, Johnny Cash. (Matt Ross will play Johnny.) True, Reese Witherspoon covered some of that ground in her Oscar-winning portrayal of Carter Cash in 2005's Walk the Line. But based on this photo, Jewel's visual transformation, at least, trumps Witherspoon's!
Jewel has often remarked on her crooked smile, which she has steadfastly refused to "correct," despite her fame and wealth. So the natural question is: With this role, has she had her teeth fixed permanently? Answer: Absolutely not! Her spokesperson told a reporter on Wednesday that her teeth will revert back to the way they were after filming.
Good for her!
