Meet The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo!
Formerly fresh-faced Rooney Mara, who will star in the film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's best-selling novel, has proven naysayers wrong and has completely immersed herself in the film's main character, Lisbeth Salander.
Complete with an inked body, a cropped, jet-black haircut and a number of piercings, the 25-year-old actress shows off her tough new look in the February issue of W magazine.
And while her tattoos are fake, the piercings -- including her ears, lip, eyebrow, nose and nipple -- are all real. "I didn't even have pierced ears," she says. "They put four holes in each ear, and, weirdly, that hurt the most."
Mara's dedication to her craft has certainly not gone unnoticed. The film's director, David Fincher, commended Mara (who is the great-granddaughter of both Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr. and New York Giants founder Tim Mara) on her full-on transformation.
"Rooney might be a trust-fund baby from football royalty, but she's levelheaded and hardworking," Fincher said.
