No woman plans to give up her personal style when she has kids, but, somehow, it often just seems to happen. You give birth and -- bam! -- any flair for fashion quickly morphs into some sort of practical mom uniform. And it even happens to celebrities.
Take Katie Holmes. The newly single mom of Suri Cruise, 6, surely can afford to pay some fabulous stylist to dress her each day, yet, in photo after photo, the actress is snapped wearing the same brown suede ankle boots with a sensible chunky heel, skinny jeans and either a long-sleeve button-down top or a long-sleeve T-shirt. Never mind that she wears this combo in New York City's steamy, muggy summer heat. Or that she knows paparazzi are ready to pounce at every corner. Yep, Katie Holmes has a mom uniform, too.
And that makes us happy. If one of Hollywood's most-photographed moms reaches for the same outfit day and day out, we feel just a little bit better that the best yoga-pants upgrade we wear is flats, jeans and some sort of printed top (better to hide breakfast stains).
