chime in nowConjunctivitis, or pink eye, is an inflammation of the mucous membrane on the eyelids. A viral infection will clear up in a few days, but your child may need an antibiotic eye drop if it’s a bacterial infection. To treat: Wash away the yellow-greenish goop from the eyes a few times a day with a cotton ball soaked in warm water. Keep your child home from school until the eyes no longer have a discharge. Because both types of pink eye can spread like wildfire, make every family member wash their hands frequently, and use separate towels, washcloths and pillows.
