A Pittsburgh Hospital Is Now Dressing All Newborns as Pirates

The Pirates are in the playoffs for the first time in 20 years and naturally the newborns are gearing up.

When your team finally makes it to the MLB playoffs for the first time in more than two decades, we can understand why a city would jump on the bandwagon, with not only cheers, but a big “Oh, baby!”

And, as a show of support, St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh is decking newborns out in Pirates onesies and red bandanas, along with mini bats, pirate hats and even an eye patch or two.

The Pirates, also called the Bucs or Buccos (you know, like as in buccaneer), are facing off against the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series (Cardinals lead 1-0).

The team's first game loss (a 9-1 beat-down by the Cards), may have been painful for fans, but it elicited our fave tweets from St. Clair so far, talkin’ a little trash to St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis:

Sorry, Cardinals fans, but these babies are forcing us to root, root, root for the Pirates. Go #BuccoBabies!
