Not even a week out of rehab, and Lindsay Lohan is already in trouble. Actually, the trouble started in rehab -- but it's about to get a lot worse.
As you may recall, Lohan, 24, was placed under investigation two weeks ago for allegedly assaulting a Betty Ford clinic worker. Lohan was accused of spraining clinic employee Dawn Holland's hand and wrist in an argument, after sneaking out of Betty Ford and returning drunk. It sounded pretty bad -- but after Holland told her side of the story to TMZ, she was immediately fired by Betty Ford for violating confidentiality laws. Then Lohan's lawyer revealed that it was Lindsay who called 911 to report the incident. So it seemed that the whole thing might have been a vicious lie spread by a bitter employee...
... Until Monday, when the Palm Desert Police Department released a statement saying that Lohan was guilty. Specifically, their investigation determined that Lindsay "violated several aspects of her probation, including the battery [charge]." So it looks like Dawn Holland may have been telling the truth after all, and Lohan is not as committed to sobriety as she wants us all to believe. The case is being turned over to local prosecutors, and may end up having big consequences for Lindsay when she faces her next parole hearing in February.
Obviously, Lohan's camp is pretty upset about this whole thing. Her lawyer issued a statement on Tuesday, accusing the police department of slandering Lindsay and saying that the "highly unusual" accusation was merely their "opinion." Lilo's legal people have gotten her out of some sticky situations before, but if the state decides to formally hold her in violation of probation, Lohan's judge could send her straight back to jail.
Things are generally not looking so good for Lindsay this week; aside from this whole battery/parole violation fiasco, she had to move to a new apartment after one of her friends turned up at her condo with a camera crew. We're standing by our advice to Lindsay: she needs to get out of Hollywood ASAP if she wants a shot at starting over. Leave now, Lindsay, and go as far as your parole officer will let you!
