What a week! After several days of dealing with seemingly every real estate agent, government agency, and mortgage lender known to man it appears that we may actually own a home by month’s end! We received a mid-week call from our mortgage lender to let us know that our loan had been approved. Upon hanging up the phone both Rob and I found ourselves too overwhelmed to be excited. It’s been quite a whirlwind trip these past eight weeks or so. I think we’re both in shock.
This happy news has helped me to relax a bit. We still have a great deal of work to do on the house before the bank will allow us to close. For starters, we are required to convert the existing wood-fired furnace to an oil-fired unit. (And, given the situation with heating oil supplies and prices this year, I think that’s creating a whole new cause for concern.) Unfortunately, to make our desired closing date we must complete the installation and a list of other repairs by early next week, which allows us approximately four days. So, while there’s an end in sight to our house-induced stressful days, it appears that things must get busier before they begin to really relax. At least now we know that the house will eventually be ours and that our worries are not for nothing.
As for physically being pregnant, I’ve not forgotten about that little fact of my life. The changes in our living situation have certainly made this week fly by, but the little one is surely letting me know of his or her presence. I have grown to a size where nobody can question whether I’m pregnant, and a size that forces me to sit and rest many times a day to avoid the feeling that I’m going to topple right onto my face because gravity is pulling my stomach to the floor. Slowly, I’m rediscovering foods I thought would be absent from my diet for another five months or so, and they actually taste good.
