Pregnancy journal: One cranky mom

I’m sick of water! It seems that water is the only “safe” drink. I’m afraid to drink too much milk for fear of sensitizing this baby while it’s still in the womb. I’ve been warned to drink juice in moderation since the sugar content is so high. Soft drinks that are caffeine free seem to disagree completely with this baby. This is probably the worst of my complaints to date. It just seems that I can’t manage to drink an acceptable amount of fluids in a 24-hour period and the fact that I’m getting tired of those that I can drink isn’t helping.

Otherwise, the pregnancy seems to be going well. The baby does seem to like to sleep most of the day on Sunday and Monday. We’ll see if this trend continues, but like last week it was quite inactive as the week began and geared right up to “party” status Saturday night when it kept me up for hours. I suppose it’s entitled to a down day or two, but it would be nice if it would remind me of it’s presence a little more often on those days. Mom’s nerves would appreciate that.

I’m not sure whether it was sewing until 1am for three nights, or the fact that I’m pregnant, but it seems that sleep didn’t come at all this week. I’m a bit fearful that my pregnancy may be the cause. When I was pregnant with Jacob I found that I couldn’t sleep for long periods of time, but that problem didn’t set in until about a month before he was born. I was just so uncomfortable that I kept waking up. I’m finding that laying in bed is not a comfortable place to be after a couple of hours. I’m a little worried that this may continue through the next 19 weeks. As the week ended I found myself being quite irritable. Knowing how much sleep I’ve had I don’t blame me, but I also want to be fair to Rob and Jacob and not take it out on them. Easier said than done when we’re still settling into a house and Jacob, sweet boy that he is, is nearly a two year old who seems to want to defy my every request.
