About eight percent of women at term rupture membranes before labor. About 80 to 90 percent begin labor within 24 hours on their own.
Your chances do not increase because you have had this happen before, unless you have an infection, such as chlamydia or bacterial vaginosis, which can predispose you to rupturing membranes.
