San Diego’s Rock 105.3 just held its annual Pregnant Bikini Pageant. Yup, you guessed it, women with big bellies in itsy-bitsy bathing suits showing all their not-so-itsy bits. And do you know what I think? Finally, a bikini contest I can get behind! The truth is, being bikini-clad with a baby on board is totally invigorating. It’s not all about T and A, though let’s face it, pregnancy hormones certainly make those areas a bit more va-va-voom. Is there anything cuter than a pregnant woman in a bikini?
With my first child, I wore a bikini around the house. I was too embarrassed to wear it in public, but loved staring at my newly bodacious tatas and ever-expanding belly. When I was pregnant with number two, after being assured by my OB that UV rays couldn't hurt the baby, I threw caution to the wind and wore a bikini to the beach. You know what I found? Everyone loves a baby bump. Even more exciting, I didn’t have to suck it in. I didn’t worry about whether the bag of Cheetos I had just downed was making an imprint on my thighs or whether the McMuffin I ate that morning was McBloating. Nope, I reveled in my belly -- the bigger the better. Now how often do we get to say that about our bodies?
