With the book True Prep, the long-awaited sequel to the 1980s classic The Official Preppy Handbook, finally hitting bookshelves and classic, tailored fashion showing up in stores, it’s not surprising that preppy style is making a major comeback.
I, for one, couldn’t be more excited about the return of L.L. Bean duck boots, Tretorns and Docksiders paired with crisp blazers, cashmere sweaters and bright grosgrain ribbon belts. But preppy style translates to the home as well, where classic sofas and pillows can be updated with bold, graphic patterns. Bright monograms on sheets, coasters and stationary feel stylish and fun. Vintage college pennants and tennis racquets (both easily found at flea markets and on eBay) can also be hung on walls for an old-school collegiate feel.
