chime in nowWhat’s the best time for your preschooler to hit the hay? If you plan to get her up at 7:00 for an 8:30 drop-off, then ideally she needs to be fast asleep by 8:00 p.m., says West -- even when it’s still light outside at that hour. Blame the clock if your tot balks: “Say, ‘The clock says it’s seven, and that’s when we go upstairs to get ready for bed,’” says West. Block the light with blackout shades or dark curtains. Once the days grow shorter, snoozing while the sun is still out won’t be an issue --until the spring.
