Starting today, women around the country will have their voices heard at iVillage.com/iVillageCares. Celebrities including Trudie Styler, Mariska Hargitay, Marlo Thomas, Arianna Huffington, Liz Lange and Angie Harmon among others will help kick-off the launch by posting a personal blog entry on iVillage Cares to highlight an organization or cause that they support and what inspired them to give back. For example, Laurie David, activist and producer of the Oscar-winning film "An Inconvenient Truth", has expressed her commitment to the environment by addressing the dangers of global warming and offering a link to her non-partisan organization www.StopGlobalWarming.org. An online forum will highlight issues ranging from childhood obesity to breast cancer research to homelessness and powerful statistics to accompany each. iVillage Cares will bring these issues to the forefront and give women an opportunity to connect with other women through common causes, become informed and take action. An iCommit section invites women to take the first step by posting to the community about the causes closest to them, pledging their efforts and sharing ideas and suggestions on how others get involved.
