Web Campaign Promotes Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore Comedy Opening February 2, 2007

NEW YORK, NY, January 18, 2007 - iVillage Properties, a division of NBC Universal, announced today that it has teamed with sister company Universal Pictures to promote Universal's upcoming film Because I Said So.

Opening on February 2, Because I Said So stars powerhouse actresses Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore, Lauren Graham and Piper Perabo as they join wickedly funny director Michael Lehmann (The Truth About Cats & Dogs, 40 Days and 40 Nights, Heathers) in his new film about cutting the apron strings.

iVillage, the number one online destination for women, with its 16 million unique visitors, features compelling content, interactive features and tools, message boards and blogs for women to connect on everything from beauty, style and entertainment to pregnancy and parenting.

"We're excited to be working with our partners at Universal Pictures," said Deborah Fine, president of iVillage Properties. "Because I Said So is a film that resonates with women of all ages, so it is a perfect fit for iVillage. This co-branded program will give both mothers and daughters a unique opportunity to experience the movie."

The partnership, which kicks-off today at www.iVillage.com/BecauseISaidSo, includes:

  • Because I Said So microsite on iVillage.com, featuring movie trailers and clips, Q&A session with the stars, message boards on meddling moms and a mother/daughter quiz that helps visitors decide which man is Mr. Right... for women of any age!
  • iVillage Live, the brand's newly launched interactive talk show on NBC stations, will promote the partnership with a segment on mother/daughter relationships and direct viewers to the co-branded microsite.
  • An instant-win sweepstakes, in which participants can enter daily for a chance to win Because I Said So merchandise and DVDs of their favorite romantic comedies. One grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to Los Angeles to visit the set of NBC's dramatic series Passions and have lunch with cast members from the show.

"Our partnership with iVillage allows us to reach a deeper audience of mothers and daughters who will instinctively connect with this film," said Eddie Egan, co-president of Marketing for Universal Pictures. "Because I Said So offers a story that will no doubt inspire and take on new life within the iVillage community and on its thousands of message boards."

This cross-promotional effort will be supported by co-branded advertising across iVillage, as well as tags on Because I Said So print and radio advertisements that encourage users to share the best and worst advice they have received from their mothers at www.iVillage.com/BecauseISaidSo.

Since NBC Universal acquired iVillage Properties in May 2006, the brand has forged a number of partnerships with divisions of NBC and parent company GE, including synergies with The Today Show, featuring regular segments on iVillage content and co-branded experts. Similarly, GE Healthcare is a strong force behind iVillage Total Health, the new health portal.

iVillage's partnership with Universal Pictures follows the recent launch of its new branding campaign, "Let's Village", which changes the word "village" from a noun to a verb and invites women to connect around common moments. The campaign, created by kirshenbaum bond + partners, includes clever original TV spots, online and outdoor elements .

About the Film
Keaton stars as Daphne Wilder, a mother whose love knows no bounds or boundaries. She is the proud mom of three daughters: stable psychologist Maggie (Lauren Graham), sexy and irreverent Mae (Piper Perabo) and insecure, adorable Milly (Mandy Moore)-who, when it comes to men, is like psychotic flypaper.

In order to prevent her youngest from making the same mistakes she did, Daphne decides to set Milly up with the perfect man. Little does Milly know, however, that her mom placed an ad in the online personals to find him. Comic mayhem unfolds as Daphne continues to do the wrong thing for the right reasons...all in the name of love.

In a hilarious battle of strong wills, the mother-daughter dynamic is tested in all its fierce, wacky complexity. The girls help Daphne finally discover the truths and impossibilities of motherly love, all while trying to answer the questions: where does it begin and where should it end?
