New York, NY – June 12, 2009 -- Scores of high-powered women arrived at Tavern on The Green to give back to the community and participate in the first annual Women@NBCU Mentors Walk in Central Park on June 11th. The walk was hosted in partnership with Step Up Women's Network, a national non-profit dedicated to strengthening community resources for women and girls.
This event follows in the successful tradition of Oxygen's annual mentors walk, started by Gerry Laybourne in Central Park 2005. Similar Oxygen walks took place around the country with thousands of women nationwide.
A total of 70 senior-level executives from advertising, finance, legal, digital, media and human resources accompanied 165 several aspiring young career women on a "walk & talk" through Central Park, followed by a group breakfast.
