It's been a rough year, but it's going to be okay, everybody: Prince is here. The pop-funk legend, now an ageless 55, has decided to join the new millennium. More specifically, he's decided to come out of hiding, start tweeting, and release a new single -- all in the most awesome way imaginable.
Calling it a comeback may seem like an exaggeration, since Prince is such a presence in pop culture; he's that rare performer who never got uncool. But the "Purple Rain" singer is also obsessively private, rarely doing interviews, keeping his tours small and secretive (with the exception of the occasional TV event), and refusing to distribute his music online.
Needless to say, Prince fans were stunned when the singer decided to join Twitter last week. To clarify: Prince has had a Twitter account for quite some time; he just wasn't personally tweeting. Until now. Behold, Prince's first tweet:
PRINCE'S 1ST TWEET... TESTING 1, 2...— PRINCE 3RDEYEGIRL (@3rdeyegirl) August 14, 2013
Okay, not exactly earth-shaking, but by Tweet #3, he was taking pictures of salad:

And then he posted his "1st selfie." Amazing.
The big reveal, of course, was a clip from the artist's new single, "Breakfast Can Wait." Here it is, in all its funky glory:
Recognize that album cover? It's a screencap of Dave Chappelle playing Prince in a classic Chappelle's Show sketch. Remember, he beats Charlie Murphy at basketball and then cooks him pancakes? No? Then you need to watch it below, immediately.
We'd also like to point out that "Breakfast Can Wait" is a far better sexy-song concept than anything Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke have thought up. Welcome back, Prince. You have no idea how much the Internet missed you!
