Tea towels, china, teddy bears and coins just weren't enough -- now stamps are being added to the memorabilia items commemorating royal couple Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton People reports.
The sheet of stamps, being produced by the Royal Mail, show two images of the happy couple: The first is their official engagement photo (the one where the prince is wearing a suit and tie) and the second is the more casual engagement shot (where he's wearing a sweater). Both pictures were shot in November by famed photog Mario Testino.
The postage will be available at U.K. post offices April 21 -- just eight days before the wedding -- but eager collectors can jump on this one by pre-ordering now by phone. (Online orders start April 7.)
Though Kate is a newbie, this will be William's third time gracing a set of stamps. He also appeared on a Royal Mail stamp celebrating The Queen Mother's 100th birthday in August 2000, and in 2003, on the occasion of his 21st birthday. As with all commemorative stamps, Queen Elizabeth II approved the engagement stamps, as did Prince William.
This newest memorialization of the royal bride and groom is just the latest in a long list of souvenirs that have come out in advance of the April 29 wedding. Among the more, er, unusual souvenirs are William and Kate sick bags (in case you have to "throne up") condoms (promising a "royal union of pleasure") and a book detailing how to knit figures that are supposed to look like members of the royal family.
