Prince William Is Returning to School for... Agricultural Management?

The royal is heading back to school to gain insight on the issues that affect farmers in the U.K.

Get ready to see Prince William sport designer overalls and work gloves, because the royal is returning to school for agricultural management.

The 31-year-old will attend Cambridge University in January for a 10-week program organized by the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership. William will be taking seminars, lectures and meetings.

According to a Kensington Palace spokesman, William is "very much looking forward to it." He also added, "The executive education programme will draw on the strengths of academics across the university. It will start in early January and run until mid-March."

But why has the new dad chosen agriculture as his focus of study? It is to gain "an understanding of contemporary issues affecting agricultural business and rural communities in the United Kingdom."

If William has any trouble with the coursework, he'll be able call up his father, Prince Charles, for a hand. The Prince of Wales is currently head of the Duchy of Cornwall, making him one of the lead farmers in the United Kingdom. Heirs to the throne have been working with Duchy estate since 1337, making William's preparation for the position expected.

Not only will the program ready William for his future role of running the Duchy of Cornwall, but it will also come in handy when inheriting land, property and investments after his father takes the throne.

The career change comes at the perfect time, too. In September, Prince George's dad announced his retirement from the Royal Air Force to focus on his charity and royal work full-time.

William attended the University of St. Andrews in 2001 where he met his wife, Kate Middleton, and graduated with a master's degree in geography.

As a second-time university student, we are positive that William will excel in the program. However, we can't say the same for the students distracted by the prince sitting next to them!
