Problem: Cracked Pie Crust

You pour your love, sweat and tears (not to mention upper body strength) into crafting a beautiful made-from-scratch pie crust, only to slide it out of your oven and find a giant crack down the middle. Sound familiar?

Solution: Kim Laidlaw, author of Home Baked Comfort, says that cracked crusts often occur when pie dough is too dry . She advises to "brush a little water on the dough, wrap it in plastic wrap, and set it aside in the refrigerator for half an hour.” Then try re-rolling it. Another hint to avoid this Problem: try adding a little bit more water when mixing the dough.
