TV Recap: Project Runway

With Kit gone, the designers are starting to realize that this competition is no longer fun and games.

After taking a special field trip to Brooklyn on the water, the designers stood in front of a big garage with something hidden behind it.

That something was the raw material for their challenge; which was 500 pairs of Levis jeans and one yard of cotton on clothing lines.

They were instructed to create an iconic denim captures the spirit of originality and creativity that has lived in the heart of the Levis brand.

The designers had three minutes to run around and grab whatever jeans and cotton they could. Rami immediately went for the dark wash, and Jillian went for light.

In the design room is where all the disasters began.

Victorya decided to steal Jillian’s idea from last week’s episode and make a “classic trench,” even though she had never made coats before. Jillian was unaware of Victorya’s decision, and it became battle of the denim coats.

“It’s hard when your favorite people are just leaving,” the always-pleasant Chris said. Only right after did Christian make a remark how it’s harder when annoying people are staying. We love you too, Christian.

With Chris talking to his garment, Jillian bleeding on hers, and Sweet Pea making a denim wedding dress (who even knew that was possible?) Tim comes in and lets Sweet Pea know that her garment is scaring him. Change of plans, Sweet Pea?

It’s finally showday, and the models have one hour for hair and makeup, giving the designers time to touch up their creations.

Christian was the only one who actually made a jacket and a pair of jeans, which was definitely an original idea.

“If I have to see another tube dress I’m going to kill myself, like I can’t even stand it I’m going to die,” he said.

The judges loved Ricky’s dress, as it was the first time his lingerie background didn’t try and come through. They said it was very clever, and the seaming was impeccable.

Chris’s was boring, had rough edges, but not rough enough, and it looked dated. I guess his garment didn’t listen to him when he was talking to it.

The judges said that they could tell everyone had fun in the project but you can tell Victorya didn’t. They thought her look was dull and uninspiring. Two points for Jillian!

Cry-me-a-river-Ricky took home the title of winner, and up-tight-Victorya packed her things.
